General Policy

Mercado Sales’ Return and Refund Policy is designed to balance the needs of both buyers and sellers while ensuring a fair and secure marketplace. Sellers are encouraged to create listings with accurate and detailed descriptions of their items. If a buyer believes their purchase is significantly not as described, they may request a return.

Minor cosmetic imperfections, packaging wear, or issues such as odor or pet dander are not typically grounds for a return unless they affect the functionality of the item. Buyers are responsible for requesting additional details before making a purchase.

 

Return Eligibility

Return requests must be submitted within 72 hours of delivery (based on carrier timestamp) and before the transaction is marked complete. Eligible reasons for return include:

Item significantly not as described

Item damaged during shipping

Item is counterfeit or inauthentic

Non-mandatory reasons (buyer’s choice, seller not required to accept):

 

Doesn’t fit

Buyer changed their mind

Odor or cosmetic issues not listed in the description

Delayed shipping due to carrier or weather

Bundles/lot sales without clear itemized description

Responsibility for Return Shipping Costs

Marketplace Sellers (individual sellers):
At the time of listing, the seller must specify whether they (the seller) will cover return shipping costs or the buyer will.

Items Sold Directly by Mercado Sales:
For items sold directly by Mercado Sales, the buyer is always responsible for return shipping costs.

 

Return Procedure

If a return request is approved, Mercado Sales will issue a return label (for items up to 50 lbs).

The buyer must ship the item back within 72 hours of receiving the label, and the carrier’s first scan must occur within 7 days.

Items over 50 lbs require the seller to provide their own return label within 3 business days.

Returned items must be unworn, unwashed, unmodified, and include all original tags and packaging (when applicable). Certain categories (e.g., undergarments, swimwear, earrings, opened beauty products) are non-returnable for hygiene reasons.

 

Refunds

Approved refunds will be processed back to the buyer’s original form of payment within 14 days of confirmation of return.

Returns under a nominal amount may be refunded as an account credit instead of original payment, at Mercado Sales’ discretion.

If the buyer rates the transaction or fails to submit a return request within 72 hours of delivery, no return or refund will be permitted.

 

Seller Return Issues

If an item is damaged during return shipping, the seller must notify Mercado Sales within 24 hours of receipt (based on carrier timestamp). Photos and requested information must be provided promptly for review.

 

Abuse of Return Policy

Any abuse of the return or refund process by either buyers or sellers may result in account restrictions, denial of future returns, or legal action at Mercado Sales’ discretion.
